The Charityness 10 "The Concept"

Tuesday, 9 February 2010 · 0 comments

My plan is to attempt something different!

Something that will standout from your usual sponsored charity events!
Not that there is anything wrong with those, but I have always been partial to a challenge!

I have seen many spectacular activities undertaken before, some by celebrities, some by members of the public.
Each of these has impressed me individually and indeed, inspired me to do something SPECTACULAR!

Hopefully you will agree to be challenged by this concept and invest in it, your imagination and support!

SO!

To raise money for Charity, I am planning to complete 10 separate challenges, at different time, possibly in different locations.
The types of events that will make up these 10, I hope will be suggested by you!

I hope that each of you, who read this, will rack your brains for the most; outrageous, spectacular, wacky, difficult, or dangerous suggestions.

I hope to be able to refuse no suggestion!
The only rules will be that –

       1. It must be physically possible (extremely difficult is ok)
       2. It must not endanger life
       3. It must not be illegal

I may add additional rules if there is something obvious that I have missed

Other than these rules, let your imagination soar.

ANY challenge
ANY difficulty
ANY location

I will choose the ten challenges by vote.
Each challenge will be posted in the Charityness Entire list post.
Enter your suggestions, or vote for your favourite in the comments section of this post.

You may suggest as many challenges as you wish (but make them good ones silly ones will be deleted)

The 10 most popular challenges (with the most votes) will be posted on the Charityness 10 post, for continual review.

So, what's the reason for doing this?

Well, Where to start?

Firstly, Hello and Thank You for taking time to read this blog!
I have big hopes for the future of the blog and the things it may be able to achieve!
My Name is Russ, and I will be your host for this Blogging experience. On occasions, it may be a bumpy ride, though I hope you will find it worthwhile!

In brief, my wife Dora became seriously ill, shortly after we were married.
The illness was eventually diagnosed as 'Heart Failure' (Cardiomyopathy)
Throughout the following 4 years (up to present day), various medications and treatments have been tried.

The most recent of these have involved Heart surgery!
About a year ago Dora received a Pacemaker device (ICD).
Currently, Dora has an Artificial Heart Pump (LVAD) and is waiting to go onto the waiting list for a Heart Transplant!

It is the Harefield Hospital that has been treating Dora for nearly a year now.
I hope that through this blog and its aims, I can repay them, in some small way.

In addition to contributing to the hospital, I have also chosen, some other related charities

The Cardiomyopathy Association
The British Heart Foundation

Additionally to these charities I wish to include the following Cancer charities, in memory of my mother, who lost her battle with Cancer in March 2008

Cancer Research UK
Macmillan Cancer Support

Thank you for reading thus far!
I have kept these details brief, as I do not want to make the front page too heavy! For more detail on the reasons behind Charityness click here

I hope you will enjoy the rest of this blog, it is intended to be light hearted (no pun intended) and fun! Please keep these thoughts in mind should you choose to contribute any ideas

Sincerest Thanks, in advance!!

Russ
